Liz Cheney slams prosecuting 9/11 conspirators in federal court

Wednesday, November 18, at 9:30 a.m., Attorney General Eric Holder will testify in a public hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee in room G-50 of Dirksen Senate Office building. Please join 9/11 Families for a Safe & Strong America, firefighters of theBravest.com and Keep America Safe in Washington, D.C. to tell Eric Holder and members of Congress, “We will fight you all the way!”

With 200,000 American troops in combat zones, the administration plans to place process above their safety and our national security by trying enemy war criminals in federal court. They would provide Khalid Sheihk Mohammed a large stage — just six blocks from Ground Zero — from which to incite violent jihad and recruit to Islamic extremism.

Military Commissions would safeguard national security and provide for a fair trial. Less than a month ago, President Obama signed into law improvements to the Act worked out between the White House and Senators Carl Levin, Lindsey Graham, and John McCain. Since September 11, the Supreme Court has confirmed that military tribunals are Constitutional. And last Friday, Attorney General Holder announced Military Commissions will be used to try five others.

President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have forgotten that their chief duty is the safety and the security of the American people. It is time to remind them and tomorrow, in Washington, is the place.

Note: 100,000 people have co-signed our letter to President Obama. (You can still add your name.) 911FamiliesForAmerica.org is partners with theBravest.com and KeepAmericaSafe.com in this effort.

  1. I must have had a seizure and missed the part where a Senator was going to speak up for the American people.

Yes, that must have been it.

  2. liz hartnett says:

What can we New Yorkers, who care deeply about this issue and fear the increased risk of another terrorist attack, do about this?

BTW, Tim, I just read an old debate you had on here with Jim Riches regarding your criticism of the IAFF video that slammed Guiliani. I was most amazed at your strong insinuation that UFA Pres. Steve Cassidy only endorsed Pres. Bush in 2004 because he could not go against the strong opinions and feelings of his members. It makes everything else you said worthless because you are completely wrong, not to mention it was highly obnoxious of you to assume you knew better what was in his heart and mind. Perhaps you didn’t see the video clip of the Pres. meeting the FFs, with their union leaders, upon arriving in NY for the Republican Convention or read the article in the NY Post by Peter King, who had set up the surprise meeting for the Pres. If you had, you would have seen or read about how emotional Cassidy got while presenting Pres. Bush with a special FDNY helmet that read FDNY Commander in chief, not to mention the words he actually spoke. Anyone who knows him well, and that includes me, knows where he came from and what he believes in. You were just so hung up on defending a day late and a dollar short Guiliani, that you tried to paint him as a Kerry supporting liberal, when all evidence pointed to the contrary. You could not have been more wrong. You should do better research and stick to the facts.

Tim Sumner: Perhaps I was wrong, am damned forever, or just the one who weighed in now needing the most redemption. Maybe we all need at least a little … BTW, I supported Fred Thompson in 2008.
